Dear God, May my heart be righteous and think before I answer. (Proverbs 15:28) Help me to restrain my mouth with knowledge, and to have a cool spirit of understanding (Proverbs 17:27). May I never give full vent to my spirit, but quietly hold it back (Proverbs 29:11). Allow me to open my mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness (Proverbs 31:26). I desire to do all things without grumbling or disputing (Philippians 2:14). May I never speak evil against another believer. The one who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks evil against the law and judges the law, I don’t want to do that. I want to be a doer of the law, not a judger (James 4:11, ESV).
May my beauty be the hidden person of my heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious (1 Peter 3:4, ESV). Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving on my lips (Ephesians 5:4, ESV). Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips! (Psalm 141:3, ESV). Amen
Hayley, I love this! Thank you! I’ve been doing lots of work to cultivate a “meek and quiet spirit.” Daily scripture, prayer, learning to let things go, following Godly women on social media. This was timely for me. I copied and printed it in pretty colors to match my other references to direct my focus first thing in the morning. God bless!
